12. JUDGING CRITERIA:

FREESTYLE JUDGING:

* The defining principle of the discipline is in the name ‘free’.

* Freestyle contests will be judged on overall impression only. After Norway meeting the judging criteria are:

1. Technical difficulty

1. Style

1. Variation: (repertoire and both tacks; use all park: slop, slider, kickers…..)

2. Power: kite high/ low; hoocked: unhoocked, speed

3. High

4. Smoothness

4. Innovation (new moves)

A. Judging will be based on an entire heat, not on individual manoeuvres.

B A rider who performs just one ‘big’ manoeuvre in a heat and little else will not be scored as highly as a rider who can perform manoeuvres of a high standard throughout the heat.

C. Repetition of manoeuvre in the same tack decreases your chance to win your heat.

D. Quality of jumps is more important as quantity

E. Only landed moves are quitted. « CRASH LANDINGS ARE NOT SCORED ». Manoeuvres that appear scrappy or disjointed shall score less.

F. Moves are score only on the competition area

F. We will count only the tricks with takeoff in the competition area, you can land outsite the judging zone.

13. SCORING

The Low Point Scoring System will be applied.

The competition is valid when the all heat schedule is finish.

The places achieved in the double- elimination overrule the places of the single-elimination.

When a full ladder of elimination is not completed, points will be given to the places achieved in the last complete round, taken into consideration who was first, second, third and fourth in his heat.

14. RECLAMATIONS:

Protest FEE is 50€

WAVES SHORT RULES 2012

Please note that the Wave Rules book have the way of right.

This short Rule Book is done to help the riders!

The primary criteria is the same as that used by the Association of Surfing Professionals. "radical controlled manoeuvres in the critical section of a wave with speed, power and flow" http://64.78.18.131/asp2005/2006criteria.asp?rView=w

Consideration is also given to:

• Selection of and maximizing the potential of a wave

• Using the power of the wave rather than the kite

• Risk = Consequences x Likelihood of failure (eg riding unhooked or strapless)

• Innovation

• Repertoire of manoeuvres

• The dismount

Each wave scored out of 10

A maximum of 20 waves will be scored

Result = total of each riders best three (3) waves

Interference results in loss of best wave score for each offence

If a move ends too far in front of or on the back the wave that constitutes the end of a scored wave. If you subsequently move back onto the face of the wave it will be scored as a new wave ride.

Aerial moves not landed on the face of the same wave will only be considered as the dismount aspect of the score.

First to start riding a wave (or clearly defined swell line) closest to the critical section has right of way else starboard tack, upwind kite high, downwind kite low, etc

On the way back out you may turn onto any unridden wave without causing interference
