Interview of Mathilde and Julien, cutie-pie VIP guests of the YMKC ‘12 Water Session.

Mathilde: Julien Kerneur… who is he?!? He’s a young Breton with blue eyes who lives in

Erdeven (when he is in France), a rider for the RRD brand this season, racing on the PKRA

and the KTE.

Particular sign: doesn’t have the corresponding color skin to his origins! He is above all a

ocean, wind and nature lover, straight forward (understanding the racing)…

Good to know detail: He mostly eats little Prince de Lu chocolate cakes (maybe, the secret

for his success!?). After becoming the France Race Champion, European Champion, getting

1st place on the European Kite Tour and the PKRA in 2011, and despite his knee injury in

Hawaii this winter, he will have to conquer in 2012.

Julien: Mathilde, I know her on my fingertips :P ! Here I go, there is so much to know!

Mathilde is primarily a gorgeous 22-year-old brunette with a singing southern accent; yes

Mathilde lives in Bèziers with her parents and here younger brother Paul.

A long time fan of sports, she is constantly doing something, too much in my opinion

sometimes, between tennis, kitesurfing, sup (?????), footing… She is finishing her second

year of physiotherapy in Limoges, and it is not always easy for her to mix her studies with her

boyfriend, her family and leisure all together but isolated in this town in the heart of France

she stays serene and takes her mind off of things with a little sports and shopping.

Vice-Champion of France in 2011 in Freestyle Kite Surf, 2012 is going to be rocking so

watch out for her, her level is off the charts! Concerning other things I am not going further

into detail, wow wow!!!

Which one of you has the worst character? Which one of you cooks the best? Who is the

one who blows up his wing the quickest? Which one of you sleeps on the right? And most

of all, which one of the two is the nicest and helps picking up the other one’s gear?

Mathilde: Unfortunately, the one with the attitude is me I guess, after all I am not a woman!:

when things suck, they really suck!

Cooking wise, Ju has been going at really good compounded salads. Myself, I prefer goat

cheese tarts and quiches.

Inflating the kite?? I think we are both in a hurry to go surfing so it goes pretty fast on both

sides.

In bed, I prefer the side closest to a window but I usually sleep on the left side.

Picking up the surfing gear, he helps me quite often, which is nice, except when we just had a

fight…

Julien: hahahah interesting questions, it’s getting hot here… Of course, the one with an

attitude is for Mathilde.. Sometimes for no reason, she really lets you have it and you don’t

understand why… but everything is usual… otherwise she is a real gem!

Well, I am not that great either and I am very jealous so watch out!

The cooking is my part… and Schmidt’s… we each have our own specialties. I am more of a

simple dish specialist, like compounded salads… Mathilde is a real good cook, with her super

mom who taught her all the good dishes. Her goat cheese tart!!?? Mmmmmmmmmmh a

delight, so good! Ha yes, one thing, don’t ever ask us to bake crepes, they have a taste of olive

oil!

We’re both quick in getting our gear ready, from experience!!

Hey that’s indiscreet!!!! I won’t say more, once on the right, once left, but most often I sleep

on the right.

Joker! I usually ride for a shorter time so of course I help her get her gear together when

she’s done, …gentleman!

What are your summer plans? And first, who is going to the Yourmood Kitecup in

Nazaré??

What are your summer plans? And first, who is going to the Yourmood Kitecup in

Nazaré??

Mathilde: this summer, I will start with a stage at the KTE in Sylt, Germany, end of June, then

in august, the Dutch stage just before the Yourmood Kitecup in which I will be participating

as well.

After that, come the French stage of the KTE in Baule and then the Spanish stage in

Barcelona and the France Freestyle Championship during the All Saints Day. And all these

events we can attend together, that’s the advantage of having a rider boyfriend . Secondarily

I will be going to Limoges on September 3rd to finish my 3rd year of physiotherapy.

Julien: The goal of being in a rider relationship is also to be together as much as possible

during the events, but also to answer to our cool deal mood (????????).

So this year’s summer program is pretty busy just as is the rest of the year, but the advantage

is that Mathilde and I will be able to share several events all summer long and that’s pretty

cool. For starters, we will go together to the KTE in Germany (exotic) end of June, after that

on my part I will be working in RRD development, so I will be in San Francisco, Hawaii and

Canada until beginning of august. Then, back to my sweety before going together to the KTE

in Holland just before coming to Nazaré for 8 days for the Yourmood Kitecup

See you soon!!!
